Dying Matters Week 2020

Writer: Eva & AlmaEva & Alma

Here you'll find info on events for Dying Matters week that I'm hosting, partaking in, or recommending. This year, the theme is 'Dying to be heard' and runs from 11th to 17th May.

I am part of the Dying Matters Dudley team representing Soul Midwives in the community. Each year, as a team we work together to create events for the local community all around death & dying. The aim being to support the national Dying Matters week and encourage conversations about death & dying in the community.

This year, we have had to cancel a few events due to the current social distancing regulations, but we have put together a couple of events online. The beauty being that people from any location can now join us!

First up, on the 12th May at 2pm, I am hosting a Zoom session about Soul Midwifery. I'm offering people the opportunity to learn about what we do and how we support people on their dying journey in the community. I will also share my personal story about why and how I trained to become one of Felicity Warner's Soul Midwives and how this led me to become a regional mentor and a position on the Spiritual Care Team at Mary Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge.

To book your spot, email me info@evaandalma.com.

Next up, on the 14th May at 2pm, I am co-hosting a 'Dying Natters' online event with the wonderful Shelley Jackson-Woodall, a local celebrant. We are offering anyone who books on, an opportunity to bring a cuppa (and even some cake) and join in an informal chat around death & dying. There is no agenda. No powerpoint. Just loving and friendly chat in a safe space. To book, email: Gemma.allen@marystevenshospice.co.uk quoting 'Dying Natters, 14th May' as a reference.

🌟 On the 16th May at 2pm, my fellow West Midlands Soul Midwives and End of Life Doulas are hosting an 'In Residence' online session.
